from Classic Baroque Solos
arranged by Christine D. Anderson
published by Agape/Hope Publishing
Code No. 1618

This piece is also known as
"The Prince of Denmark March".

General notes:

Michèle says:
I like to emphasize the difference between the 3 sections of the piece. I usually take the opening section (mm. 1 through 32, then 9 through 16) at quarter note = 100, the middle section (mm. 33 through 48) at quarter note = 80, then the ending section (mm. 49 through 62) at quarter note = 120, with the molto rit as written.  I play the last note as a D6/D7 combo ring.

I also like to do this piece accompanied by organ (or organ synthesizer) rather than piano and ask the organist to use contrasting stops between the outer sections and the middle section. The middle section has a much more lyrical feel to me, so I usually request something soft and "flutey" for it.

Table setup:

By moving all unused bells out of the way, it's possible to do this piece with 6 feet or less of table space. I also use a duplicate F#5 & A5, but it *is* possible to do this piece without them - just ignore my references to them below.

Table setup is in 2 rows.

First row (closest to ringer):
G5  A5  B5  C#6  D6  E6\F#6** G6  B6

Second row (above the first row):
F#5/A5 (duplicates)  D5  F#5  G#6\A6**  D7

** = I interlock the handles of these bells.

Choreography:
m. 16 first time: disassemble E6, F#6 cluster
m. 22 through 23: keep the G6 and F#6 as constants and use Traveling 4iH to play the rest of the notes, ending with the E6 in the right hand
m. 30 through 31: same as above (because the E6 is in the right hand, it is ready to reassemble into a 4iH cluster for the return to the Capo/Segno [whichever you choose to do])
m. 16, 2nd time: disassemble the E6\F#6 cluster, then pass the D6 from left to right hands
m. 35 & 43: set down the F#5/A5 cluster keeping the bells together, keep the D6 as a constant and create F#6\D6 cluster.  Release F#6 at end of measure.
m. 36 & 44: Keep C#6 as a constant, form C#6/A5 cluster.  Form B5\D6 cluster.  Release B5 & A5 after playing them.  Form E6\D6 cluster.
m. 37 & 45: Release the E6 after playing it.  Keep the C#6 as a constant, form C#6/E6 cluster.  Form F#6\D6 cluster.
m. 38 & 46: release F#6 at end of measure
m. 39 & 47: release the E6 after playing it.  Form B5\D6 cluster, setting it down as a unit when finished with it.  Create C#6/A5 cluster.
m. 40:  Pass A5 from lh2 to rh.  Return C#6 to home position, release A5 at end of measure.
m. 41:  Pick up the duplicate F#5/A5 cluster.  Pick up D6 from on top of B5\D6 cluster.
m. 45: on beat 4, play both the D6 & the F#6 as a double stop
m. 46: on beat 1, play both the C#6 & the E6 as a double stop, on beat 4, play both the D6 & the F#6 as a double stop
m. 47: on beat 1, play both the C#6 & the E6 as a double stop
m. 49: reassemble the E6, F#6 cluster
m. 56: disassemble the G#6, A6 cluster
m. 60: Optional:  Play only the A6, not both notes
m. 64: Optional:  Add a D6/D7 combo ring to final chord.
